What is Sketch Portrait?

A sketch portrait features bold, quick lines, focusing on the face.It's enhanced with deep shading to highlight details

*Note: You'll receive a version of the details and sketch as shown in this video.The sketches below are my more casual and personal work.

Face

Getting the face just right is crucial in my sketches, as they focus on the face.I'm more comfortable with Western features including East Asia. But depicting South and North Asian and African ethnicities, can be a bit of a hit or miss for me.It's a bit ironic, considering my own Asian background.

The character in the drawing is my original character from Hong Kong.However, his features came out more Eurasian, with sharper definition than the softer lines usually seen in South and North Asian faces.

I believe in being honest about my strengths and areas for improvement.This helps you to know what to expect when I draw your requested characters

Artstyle Impression

When I draw anime or stylised characters in my semi-realistic style, it's a careful balance.I aim to make them feel real yet keep their iconic essence. It's like seeing a familiar face in a new light.Check out some of my reimagined versions below.

Bust Portraits

At the moment, I'm only doing Bust Shot portraits.You can choose a colour for the sketch, or I'll use navy blue by default.I'll add a bit of colour mainly to hair and eyes, and maybe to detailed clothes or accessories for clarity

If your character has something like a weapon in their hand, I might include it in my sketch.This applies to hands with tattoos, fancy nails, etc., as well. No guarantees – but if you ask nicely, I might just add it.A little charm can go a long way!

Why is it closed?
When will it return?

I currently use Procreate, which doesn't support vectors, so resizing can blur images.I'm transitioning to After Effect to create a rig for it and move it's joint there. It's an adobe software and gosh I hate the interfaceI'm still learning it, so my commission services are paused for now. See my progress below

I offer a one-month warranty for edits, which includes changes or new poses for the existing design.However, this doesn't extend to creating a completely new design; it's only applicable to the one already made.

A week. If I'm fast.Usually, I can finish the design in a day and will show you for approval when it's done.It must be fully confirmed- I'm talking Triple-Plus-Chopped type of confirm- before I start the 46 poses.After this, no more design changes are possible.

The maximum canvas resolution for Shimeji is 128px x 128px and its little Icon is only 10px x 10px

Note that the outlines and details, especially on the body or places like the wrists, may look pixelated or less detailed.

Why is it closed?
When will it return?

I haven't done any colouring or shading in my art since 2022 November. My artstyle has evolved significantly, becoming less youthful.I won't be taking on any new commissions until I resume colouring and shading, as my approach to these techniques has likely changed a lot too.I want to avoid any risks associated with this change in style, so until then, this commission will be closed.

For a comparison, below is the same Original Character.You be the judge and see if there's a difference in the outline.

Animalistic:

This dog drawing is my masterpiece, the best I've ever done.The others? Well, they're more like taxidermy projects gone wrong...

Furry:

The only 'furry' creature I can confidently say I draw well is the Wendigo, but I'm pretty sure that's not the type of furry you're looking for.

But! My brother creates stunning drawings of soft-furred dragons. Be sure to check out his work if you're into that!

Mecha:

I'm a fan of humanoid mechs like Transformers. However, I really struggle with drawing their straight lines and perspectives. So this is a big no no.

Children and below:

Risky

Females:

Surprisingly, I've drawn women less than ten times.I'm getting better at drawing feminine faces, but I'm still perfecting the body.And they often turn out muscular with broad shoulders.

So long as it has a human-like feature; it includes mask, humanoid monsters and to some extends were-beings.
